Some are broken, some are abused, some are forgotten and some are dumped for the sweet scent of greener pastures… Luckily for these old boards,  Mafuta Ink has started its own art adoption program.

Inspired by found objects and in the interest of renewal and regenerative art, Mafuta Ink has gathered up broken and discarded stray skateboards in the streets. Removing the trucks and bolts, these worn wooden canvases were sent to local artists to revive.

Today Mafuta Ink shows off it’s class of 2009 and finds each, and every one of these, the perfect parent. Small cash bar in operation, and artworks on show for one night only. The venue is Co.Lab (62 Roeland Street, Cape Town). It’s not everyday that we get to formally view the best of Cape Town’s underground artists. Get there.
